This Thursday, British Vogue magazine published a series of photographs that brings together 40 women from around the world, selected as the most powerful and influential of recent times on the cover of its issue number 76 in March, as part of the consolidation of a historic edition. New York City was the location established for all those chosen to travel from different parts of the world to meet in a photo session under the lens of photographers Steven Meisel (cover) and Ned Rogers (inside pages), and under the direction of Editor-in-chief of British Vogue, Edward Enninful. “40 women flew from London, Paris, Milan, Los Angeles and elsewhere to be part of this historic number,” Enninful noted in the editor's column for this issue. After the victory, the winner expressed that the photo reflects an emotional visual reminder about the speed with which polar ecosystems are melting in the world due to climate change. “Climate change is the biggest challenge we face. “I hope this photograph can inspire hope and reflect the integral bond between an animal and its habitat,” said the author. In a close competition with more than 75,000 wildlife photography enthusiasts from all over the world and more than 50,000 competing images, Ice Bed was the winner in a final to which 24 other exceptional photographs also competed, highlighting a happy tortoise, co-parent lions, a flock of starlings and the northern lights. The Natural Photography Contest is one of the oldest and most prestigious visual portrait competitions of wildlife and nature in the world. The participating photographs of this 59th edition were presented in an exhibition from the first half of October 2023 and are still valid after the winners were announced.
